Vision

For physiotherapists in Canada to be engaged in achieving health equity.

Mission

The mission of the Global Health Division (GHD) is to empower a community of Canadian physiotherapists to advocate and promote culturally appropriate care grounded in justice and equity. Our hope is to encourage physiotherapists to adopt a global health mindset, aiming to understand the interconnectedness between health inequalities locally, nationally and internationally.

Values

  • Two-Eyed Seeing and Pluralism – Integrating Indigenous and global health principles into everyday practices to advance social justice within the profession.
  • Equity and Inclusion– Advocates, organizes and amplifies equity-deserving voices and their work
  • Curious and Disruptive – Challenges current power structures and reimagine the role of physiotherapists.
  • Resourcefulness and Impactful – Doing more with less.
  • Accountability – A focus on authentic and reciprocal responsibility on individual and collective levels.
    • Maintain bi-monthly student subcommittee meetings led by student representative
    • Cultivate a space of connection and support for Indigenous physiotherapists, students and their allies
  • Local to Global Connections – To foster the interconnection between local action and global impact across health issues.
